Koan develops enterprise level, geospatially based analytic platforms. We are experts at cloud-based analytic platform development, data transformation, natural language processing and advanced analytic methods.
iiKan.ai is committed to working in partnership with Indigenous Governments and communities. Our Indigenous partners will have the opportunity to be customers, equity partners and provide thought leadership in the direction of the Company as we continue to grow and develop.
Longhouse Capital is an Indigenous founded, owned and led asset management company. Established to create positive change for Indigenous communities while delivering superior risk-adjusted returns for all stakeholder.
Longhouse Capital, Koan Analytics and our partner Indigenous Governments are embarking on the ambitious objective of establishing the world's first fully integrated data analytics platform across natural resources, environment, community, and industry. Any integrated approach to data analytics will enable rapid analysis of cumulative effects, causation and prediction. Only by understanding the root data elements across subjects like: water, land, air, species, industry, community and social factors, etc. can this deeper analytics be done.
To be clear, it's never been done anywhere globally - we intend to be the first, through an Indigenous owned and run company.
The vast majority of opportunities and challenges facing all Governments are difficult and multi-dimensional. Whether studying species at risk, youth at risk, community wellbeing or the potential risks/opportunities of an Impact Benefit Agreement - what they all have in common is that they are complex. And the answers to these complex questions rarely exist in a single data set or even the data of a single Department, Division or often a single level of Government. These types of challenges are what rests at the heart of cumulative impact assessments.
At present, most analysis of complex problems is rather simplistic, and rarely are we capable of delving into root causes, multivariate causation, prescriptive or predictive analytics. When it is possible, it's only after hundreds or even thousands of hours data manipulation and often years of semi-manual analytic methods.
A core challenge is that the data exists in numerous data silos, comes from a wide range of sources and data types: reports, tables, images, maps, etc. Even with open data portals and data sharing agreements, the truly deep knowledge inside this data remains largely unavailable because it hasn't been transformed to enable complex machine learning based analytics.
A part of the solution is to begin working off an analytics platforms that starts with the transformation of the underlying subjects of data - Air, Water, Land, etc., and all their specialist sub-topics. This is done by building the natural language processing knowledge of each topic and sub-topic, and then creating the underlying data architecture for these subject. All geospatially integrated, and all connected as a meta-framework of interconnected subjects. iiKan.ai calls this an integrated knowledge repository - it's a Data Lake on steriods.
Once this data transformation has been completed - then the actual analytic methods need to reside inside a purpose-built platform of analytic tools and data science pipeline features that allow for rapid testing and training, the development of new algorithms, new analytic models and methods.
Any platform of this nature must possess world-class security; yet be an open and collaborative system. A platform that enables individual organizations to pursue their analytic inquiries while also enabling collaboration across Governments, Industry, Academia, and Research Institutes.
Yes, this is a dream. But it is a dream within the grasp of iiKan.ai. We've already built the underlying platform to will power this new reality.
As the image above illustrates, all of iiKan.ai's work will focus on capturing all perspectives and knowledge. Our intent is to integrate all publicly available data from Federal, Provincial and Territorial sources - and provide platform instances to each of these Governments.
This foundational public data, will then be integrated with the knowledge and wisdom of each of our partner Indigenous Governments. We want to capture and document both traditional knowledge as well as current and future knowledge. iiKan.ai wants to enable Indigenous Governments and their communities to perform their own analysis, form their own opinions, and make decisions about the direction and welfare of their communities and traditional territories that is informed by their past, present and future.
All - through a highly secure data platform that is private and owned by each Government. Data sovereignty is a paramount concern for iiKan.ai, and we have worked very hard to develop a world-class approach to data security over the years.
