Placing the power of advanced analytics in the hands of Indigenous Governments and their People.
Removing data silo's and accelerating cumulative effects analysis for the tough topics that don't fit neatly into a single Department or Ministry.
Complex Analytics for a Complex Country
iiKan.ai is committed to supporting the self-determination objectives of Indigenous communities. We intend do this by placing the power of advanced analytics and integrated data in the hands of Indigenous Governments.
Whether making decisions related to Impact Assessment processes, negotiating Land Claims, Impact Benefit Agreements, or making their own policies or legislation - providing the underlying data and analysis is a powerful tool in working internally as well as externally with industry and other Governments.
iiKan.ai will enable the integration of traditional and current indigenous knowledge. Capturing Indigenous perspectives is foundational to our analytic approach.
Data sovereignty is paramount. iiKan.ai has built some of the world's most secure data environments working with global experts, our technology approach not only protects Indigenous data - it very likely substantially strengthens it.
iikan.ai estimates that we will be hiring over 1,200 Canadians over the next five years, we are committed that the vast majority of these roles will be filled with Indigenous employees.
iiKan.ai is a virtual company by design, enabling us to hire people from across the country; and with a partnership with Simon Fraser University's Big Data Hub and Continuing Studies Department, we will be providing the training and mentorship necessary to make this a reality.
Whether the challenge are, for example: communities at risk, environment assessments, biodiversity, economic development, early years education, water quality, or regulatory reform - these challenges rarely sit neatly within a single data set or even a single Department, Ministry or level of Government. We have been talking about data informed public policy for forty years - and we are getting better.
The great news is that the advances in machine learning and big data analytics have accelerated so substantially in the last three to five years that the opportunities for the utilization of the world's most advanced methods are within Governments reach.
Yes, Governments have made significant strides at developing data sharing agreements; however, truly advanced geospatially-based data integration across different types of data and down to the underlying language and data architecture associated with each topic - well, that has been an elusive goal. Until now. It is the type of deep analytic capabilities iiKan.ai is capable of delivering.
We don't expect Governments to hire us because we are an Indigenous owned and operated company - we expect Governments to hire us because we are the very best at what we do.
iiKan.ai's vision is to create a single integrated knowledge repository across all FPT natural resources, environment, economic and industrial data. The data sharing agreements are in place, the identity and access management, encryption and security approaches have been developed. Governments simply need a platform from which this underlying data can be effectively integrated.
Each participating Government will receive a private, secure, full instance of iiKan.ai technology for development in their home jurisdiction, inside their own secure IT environment. Most importantly a collaborative eco-system can be established for public servants, industry, communities and academic research partners. This is not a pipe dream - it is fully possible with today's technology, and iiKan.ai's unique analytic capabilities.
Canada is a complex country with complex relationships and governance models; that complexity is both our strengthen and a source of challenge.
We are committed to working together to solve problems and to thrive collectively - it's what makes us at iiKan.ai love Canada. We have historically disregarding Indigenous Canadians: our perspectives, our Rights, our knowledge and our wisdom. As Indigenous people we have much to share and contribute to Canada and the world - if only we could harness it and share it. Indigenous people also don't want to refute the power of science and modern technology, rather we want to harness that knowledge as well to build lasting relationships that protect our common land and all of our people.
Rarely do our greatest challenges and opportunities fit neatly into a dialectic of your problem or my problem - they are shared amongst us. Integrating publicly available data, protecting proprietary data and building complex interconnected data across silos, with advanced open analytic tools, has the power to make a "C" change for our country. We want to lead this change, by doing something unexpected - building it first and foremost from an Indigenous Analytics Company.
